In this episode of The Tentative Apologist podcast I interview Professor Don N. Page, a theoretical physicist who works in the area of cosmology and gravitation. Dr. Page completed his PhD in physics and astronomy at Caltech (1976) and went on to complete a post-doc under Stephen Hawking at Cambridge University (1976-1979). After teaching for a decade at Penn State University he joined the faculty of the University of Alberta in 1990. Professor Page is married to Cathy and has five children. He is also an evangelical Christian.
Our conversation ranged over a wide range of topics including the Hawking-Hartle model of the Big Bang, God’s role in creation, the size of the universe, the question of whether T=0 (the origin of the universe) should be identified with Genesis 1:1, and the possible existence of extra-terrestrial intelligence. It was a fascinating and wide-ranging conversation.
For more from Don Page I recommend his excellent paper “Does God so love the multiverse?” as well as his engaging essay “The Superb Design” in David Marshall, ed., Faith Seeking Understanding: Essays in Memory of Paul Brand and Ralph D. Winter.
