Albert Schweitzer was a world famous New Testament scholar and concert pianist before the age of thirty. And that was before he became the missionary doctor we all know and love. I, on the other hand, am not a famous anything, although I did play the community barn once with my high school rock band (Our unofficial name was “Randy and the Rabble Rausers” but the drummer, obsessed as he was with LA hair bands, kept insisting our name should be “Hollywood 101”. )
Anyway I digress. Schweitzer has given me the inspiration to write a screenplay (maybe after the semester when I get the time). I already have plans for “Gaddafi: The Movie” to be directed by Christopher Nolan. (I’ll be sure to inform Mr. Nolan of this honor as soon as I can get his publicist to return my emails.) Will Smith will play Obama and Mr. Gene Simmons, the aging bassist from KISS (a fogey rock band), will be ideal to play the egomaniacal Gaddafi. As for Nellie Furtado, she’ll be playing herself.
