First the bad news: my upcoming Calgary debate with Justin Schieber (scheduled for March 8th) has been cancelled. (Fear not, the March 7th debate in Edmonton is still very much a go.)
This leaves us with a free Sunday to fill. As a result, currently Justin and I are planning a second event for Sunday, March 8th in Edmonton. The plan is to call it “Belief and Doubt in the Twenty-First Century: A Christian-Atheist Dialogue.” While the previous evening’s exchange will follow the broad parameters of a formal debate, we plan for the March 8th event to be an informal dialogue (yes, that’s why the word “dialogue” is included in the title!).
While we are disappointed that we won’t be able to debate in Calgary, the second event in Edmonton provides the opportunity to discuss a range of additional issues. Our formal debate is narrowly focused on theism as a philosophical concept, but the following day’s conversation will be open-ended.
All this is to say that if you were planning to attend the Edmonton debate, you should definitely plan to attend the Sunday evening dialogue as well. Spread the word!
Currently we are planning the event to run 7-9 pm. Further details to follow.
