Yesterday in “Let’s talk about violence: Discussions on the Bible” I noted an upcoming church engagement I have addressing the problem of violence in the church and I noted more widely the importance of encouraging churches to engage in honest and open discussions about biblical violence.
The Atheist Missionary commented: “Kudos to you for not being afraid to address this issue head on.”
According to The Free Dictionary, “head-on” (adj., adv.) means “with directness or without compromise”. And this is indeed what I try to do: address difficult issues head-on, with directness and without compromise. So I took note of the commendation.
And I also took notice when Jason Thibodeau responded to The Atheist Missionary by suggesting that the accolade was undeserved:
