If you’re like me in that you can’t get enough of that Randal Rauser fellow (not that I’ve got much choice in the matter) then have I got some good news for you: I’m a guest on Justin Brierley’s radio show “Unbelievable” this week. That was a real treat given that I’m a long-time fan of “Unbelievable” including the show’s dialogue format complemented with Justin’s unobtrusive but engaged interview style and a long list of interesting topics and engaging guests.
We recorded the show on Wednesday and it will be broadcast and podcast on “Unbelievable” this Saturday (February 16th). Our launching point for discussion was the popular atheist catch-phrase “I just believe in one less God than you.”
My sparring partner was atheist writer and comedian Ralph Jones. But Ralph ain’t just a mere atheist. He’s an anti-theist (i.e. an “atheist deluxe”). Among the many hats he wears, Ralph writes for The Huffington Post. You can read some of his articles here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ralph-jones/.
The amazing thing is how quickly an hour of broadcast time evaporates. It seemed like moments after I finished clearing my throat Justin was announcing the first commercial break. (In case you’re wondering: no, I don’t have a lot of pheglm in my throat. I’m just saying the time went fast.)
I’ve probably done about thirty radio interviews at this point, but this was the most fun. Only on one other occasion have I been able to “mix it up” with an interlocutor in the interview (during an appearance on “The Bob Dutko Show” in Detroit). So this was definitely engaging.
And to top it off, I’ve invited Ralph to carry on the conversation in my blog. We’re starting on a back and forth emailed interview conversation tomorrow and I’ll be publishing that conversation in the blog in the next week or two.
So as they say: “stay tuned”.
(But who are “they” anyway?)
