I haven’t had a raise in five years. In fact, I make less money now than I made in 2008. Such is the difficult economic world of Christian graduate education.
I could choose to turn this blog and website into a very modest revenue stream by including ads for language learning programs and Christian dating websites. But the world has enough advertising (the average person sees more than 12,000 ads a day). So I’ve chosen to keep this space devoted to important conversations and free of the clutter of adverts.
Still, running a website is expensive. Apart from the thousands of hours I invest every year in producing new content, I also invest hundreds of dollars in keeping the blog maintained. To note one example, this past summer I had a security breach which cost me more than $400.
But I don’t want your money. Nor do I need it.
However, thousands of entrepreneurs in the developing world do need it. If you’ve benefited from the content of this blog I would appreciate it if you would make a donation to http://www.kiva.org/. Kiva is an outstanding organization that allows you to donate directly to entrepreneurs developing their businesses around the world.
If you do decide to invest in Kiva as a result of this blog (as The Atheist Missionary does), then please let me know. I appreciate it.
