Tory Ninja raised the problem of self-described Christians who do not believe any person like God exists. That’s a problem. That is, it is a problem that some self-described Christians deny p where p is “God exists.”
But the same thing goes in the other direction. Last week in one of the blog threads so-called “Atheist Missionary” apparently went rogue. This is what the bloke said: “All atheists, if they are honest, must admit that they are really agnostics. If not, they are intellectual frauds….”
This is pretty outrageous stuff. Imagine a Christian missionary saying “All Christians, if they are honest, must admit that they are really agnostics. If not, thy are intellectual frauds….” Holy doodle! That’d be big news. And unless that missionary was a liberal Episcopalian (and isn’t “liberal Episcopalian missionary” a contradiction in terms anyway?) they’d be called home the next day.
It is equally outrageous to have a self-described atheistic missionary come out of the closet and admit not only that he is really an agnostic (i.e. one who refrains from assenting either to p or not-p) but that every other self-described atheist is either an agnostic as well or an intellectual fraud.
There is no way to reconcile this statement with his creedless creed. The conclusion is inescapable: TAM clearly has gone apostate, and you heard it here first folks. Expect the home office of Atheist Inland Mission in Stockholm to issue a public statement tomorrow distancing themselves from this new pariah. As for the rest of you atheists out there: keep your doubts about your doubts to yourself if you know what’s good for you.
